Meridian man faces possession of drugs, stolen firearm charges

A traffic stop on Posey Avenue on Sunday led to the arrest of a Meridian man with a felony amount of prescription medication, illegal drugs and a stolen firearm, officials said.

 

Derrick Cox, 36, of 3831 42nd St., Meridian, was arrested and charged with two counts of felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a stolen firearm and improper equipment.

 

Sheriff Eric Clark said Cox was driving a Silver Range Rover with no taillights when he was pulled over on Posey Avenue on Sunday, Aug. 1, in the afternoon.

 

Clark said that marijuana, Adderall and oxycodone were discovered either on Cox’s person or in the vehicle as well as a stolen firearm.
