Meridian Children’s Museum officially opens March 27

The day has come where we transition from a dream to a reality, as the Mississippi Children’s Museum – Meridian (MCM-Meridian) opens its doors to the public on Saturday, March 27. 

The vision of creating a first-class museum for the children of East Mississippi has been a dream since 2015, after much hard work and perseverance, MCM-Meridian is excited to open its doors and spark creativity, imagination, discovery, and learning for all children who visit.

MCM-Meridian wants children to achieve their potential through fun and engaging activities that promote learning. The 25,000 square-foot museum consists of 9,500 square feet of indoor experiences and an additional 25,000 square feet of outdoor experiences designed around our educational initiatives: STEAM, arts and literacy, health and nutrition, and Mississippi heritage. 

“I'm excited and eager for the community to see how all of their hard work and commitment and support has made this magical space a reality,” said Liz Wilson, the museum’s executive director.

MCM-Meridian invites guests to attend the public grand opening event on Saturday, March 27, 2021 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. (closed for a cleaning break between 12 p.m. – 1 p.m.) and on Sunday, March 28 from 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. 

Tickets are $10 per person (adults must be accompanied by a child) and must be purchased in advance to reserve your visit. Please visit mcmmeridian.org to buy timed tickets.  Following the grand opening weekend, the museum will be open Tuesday-Sunday and offer Magic Mondays on holidays and during school breaks.  

In addition to daily admission, MCM-Meridian offers annual memberships, birthday parties and facility rentals, traveling exhibits and programs, field trips, professional development, and will soon offer seasonal camps.
