Max R. West

Services for Max R. West were held Sunday, January 5, 2025, at the First Methodist Church in Philadelphia. Rev. Jonathan Crabtree officiated. Burial followed in the Shelton Cemetery in Copiah County with Mark Lowe officiating.

Max was a native of Copiah County and graduated from Union Church High School in Union Church, MS, and served in the U.S. Air Force. Max pursued a career in forestry at Mississippi State University, where he earned his Bachelor's and began a career with the Mississippi State Forestry Commission. Mr. West was a member of the First Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia West; daughters, Penny (Kenny) Dickerson and Cindy (Randy) Thomas; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Faye McDaniel; a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. West was preceded in death by daughter, Janice Lindsay; granddaughter, Rachel Lindsay; parents, Hollie and Mellie West; siblings, Harold West, Helen Ferguson, and Earlene Sebren.
