Graveside services for Mary Grace Vowell Day were held Saturday, August 15, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. from New Pearl Valley Cemetery with Rev. Dave Sanders and Rev. Carl Roberts officiating.  McClain-Hays Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Day, 98, of Philadelphia, died Wednesday, August 12, 2020.

She was a native of Kemper County and a resident of Philadelphia for most of her life and was retired from Clarks Department Store.  She enjoyed working in her yard and loved her flower beds. After she retired she owned and operated her own business “The Little White House”.  She loved to travel, music, and dance, her family and especially her grandchildren.  Mrs. Day loved her Lord and was a member of Friendship Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Lamar Day of  Philadelphia; daughters, Maxine Vowell Sullivan, Mary Vowell Zieminick (Bill), and Priscilla Vowell Sanders (David), all of Philadelphia;  son, Carl Vowell ( Doris) and Jimmy Wayne Vowell (Marsha) both of Philadelphia; 15 grandchildren, Wanda Breazeale, Gilbert and Brian Vowell, Mary Monk, Susan Savage, Angela Conn, Latricia Dowdy, Robert Stanley Vowell, Robin and Lisa Zieminick, Dave Sanders, Leslie Sanders Griffis, Wade, Barry and Craig Massey; 38 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Margie Edwards of Trenton, N.J. and Lola Lee Warren, of Little Rock, AR.; a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Day was preceded in death by her first husband, Ivey Ambers Vowell; daughter, Edith Ann Vowell Massey Long; great-grandson, Joshua Warren; sons-in-law, Ray Sullivan and B.J. Long; sisters, Kathlene, Edna, and Indinola; brothers, J.T. and John Jr.; parents, John Lee and Lola Lee Harbour.
