Mary E. Moore passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020, at her home.

Born April 2, 1940, to James Otis and Alva Mae Turbyfill, she grew up a sharecropper’s daughter in Oneida, Arkansas, spending her early adult life in the Mississippi Delta before moving to Philadelphia, Mississippi thirty-five years ago. Working in various factories before retirement from Richardson Molding, she prided herself in being a strong-willed, independent, hard worker.

She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, always doing what she could to make another’s life easier. She valued moments spent with her children and grandchildren, “spoiling them” as she saw fit. Having a vast knowledge of life in general, her family often relied on her for advice and support to which she usually responded to with the utmost confidence, reminding them all of their own strength. She will be missed tremendously as she was truly one of a kind.

Mary had five children, Mary Ann Winslow (Billy) of Little Rock, AR, Carolyn Boswell and Rita Godbold of Philadelphia, James Godbold (Linda) of Lafayette and adopted granddaughter, Cindy Adkins (Gordon) of Philadelphia. Her children blessed her with 15 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.  Mary is also survived by her brother, Albert Turbyfill (Jenny) of Greenville; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her first husband, James L. Godbold; second husband, John Moore; son, David Godbold; grandson, Patrick L. McCool; parents, James and Alva Turbyfill; two brothers, James M. Turbyfill, Elmer Turbyfill; and son-in-law, Hilton Boswell.

Pallbearers were Paul Moorehead, James Moorehead, Phillip McCool, Cade Adkins, Kyler Jones and Wyatt Blanton.
