Marvin Townsend

Funeral services were Saturday, February 4, 2023, from McClain-Hays Chapel with burial in Mars Hill Cemetery.  McClain-Hays Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Townsend, 79, of Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 2, 2023. 

Marvin was a native of the Arlington Community.  He was a Sergeant in the U. S. Army and served in Vietnam.  He was employed at U. S. Motors for 34 years.  Mr. Townsend was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church. 

Survivors include wife Linda Townsend; daughters, Sewanna Watson of Philadelphia, and Amy Skelton of Pheba; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Townsend was preceded in death by parents, Oscar and Ethel Townsend; sisters, Ettie Mae Fortenberry, and Shirley Brekeen; brothers, Grady and Paul Townsend.

Pallbearers were Greg Sisson, Glenn Sisson, Mark Drury, Ted Manning, Warren Deweese, Jacob Drury.
