A felony amount of marijuana was seized along with more than $3,000 in cash in a drug raid that netted two arrests Tuesday by city and county law enforcement officers.

Alexis Smith, 12201 County Road 573, Philadelphia, and Demetrius Horne, 244 Cora Street, Philadelphia, were charged with felony possession of marijuana.

Sheriff Eric Clark said that the arrests come from a search warrant executed on Tuesday, June 8 by the Neshoba County Sheriff’s Department and the Philadelphia Police Department on a residence in Sistrunk Trailer Park off Weyerhaeuser Road.

The search yielded a felony amount of marijuana, three firearms, $3,068.00 cash and drug paraphernalia.

“Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office continues to work with Philadelphia Police Department and other agencies to keep drugs from reaching our teenagers,” Clark said.

Clark said that the raid was the result of an investigation that was started on Monday, June 7 when deputies initiated a traffic stop on Weyerhaeuser Road.

“The traffic stop led to a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle,” Clark said. “Information from this stop subsequently started an investigation that produced several misdemeanor marijuana drug charges over the next two days.”

These included a stop that revealed a 15-year-old had bought marijuana from the residence in question.

Clark said that anyone that has any information about crimes in the area is encouraged to please call Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office at 601-656-1414 or East Mississippi Crime Stoppers at 1-855-485-8477 (TIPS).
