Man arrested in convenience store shooting
A man has been arrested in the convenience store shootout Tuesday night in downtown Philadelphia that critically injured a man.
The suspect is 25-year-old Dqavion Marshall of Philadelphia, and the shooting involved a dispute between two families.
The shooting occurred at the Chevron at the intersection of Main Street and Holland Avenue at about 5:50 p.m.
Philadelphia Police Chief Eric Lyons said upon arrival, officers learned that a man had been shot and transported to Neshoba General by private vehicle.
Lyons said a Black male standing in the parking lot told officers he was involved in the incident. He was identified as Marshall.
Officers recovered a handgun from the vehicle Marshall was traveling in, which was identified as the weapon used in the shooting. Marshall was taken into custody and transported to the Police Department.
The victim, 21-year-old Andrew Carter of Philadelphia, suffered three gunshot wounds and was later airlifted to University Hospital in stable condition, according to Lyons.
Officers believe the shooting is related to an ongoing feud between the Marshall and Carter families.
On Sunday, officers responded to a fight at Reunion Court Apartments involving Andrika Carter, who reportedly attacked Marshall’s sisters. Andrika Carter left the scene before officers arrived, but charges were filed, Lyons said in a press release Wednesday afternoon.
According to the press release, Andrika Carter returned to the apartments on Monday, and another altercation occurred.
According to Lyons, Andrika Carter allegedly used a golf club to assault Marshall’s sisters and struck a 4-year-old child during the incident. Three victims were hospitalized with multiple injuries.
Andrika Carter was later arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of child abuse.
Marshall has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is being held at the Leake County Jail. No bond has been set.
