A Neshoba County man has been arrested and charged as a suspect in connection with a church burglary caught on a security camera, Sheriff Eric Clark said.

The man, Peter McMillan, 49, 589 North Oswald Road, was arrested and charged with two counts of burglary of a church.

On Thursday, June 23, around 12 p.m. the Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office arrested Peter McMillian on BlackJack Church property in Neshoba County, Clark said.

Deputies responded to the chruch building on BIA 0022 after a church member called reporting a burglary in progress.

The church had recently been burglarized on June 12 when a window was broken to gain access, Clark said.

“The proactive efforts of church members placing a ring camera inside the facility paid huge rewards,” Clark said.

A church member was alerted when movement was detected inside the church building.

He said she immediately called 911 to alert law enforcement.

Within minutes, deputies were on the scene and located the suspect as he attempted to leave the property.

McMillian had used his ID card to release the lock and gain entry into the church building. The video revealed McMillian gathering items and placing them in plastic bags for easy carry.

McMillian was in the county jail on a $20,000 bond.
