Man arrested for stealing video games
A Neshoba County man was arrested on burglary charges after he allegedly broke into a neighbor’s house and stole video game equipment last week.
The man, Shanon M. Jenkins, 20, 10150 Road 507, was arrested and charged with three counts of burglary, according to Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark.
Clark said a 17-year-old juvenile male was also arrested in connection with the case and was also charged with three counts of burglary.
Clark said he received a call on May 20 at about 5:25 p.m. reporting a burglary at 11010 Road 240. Clark said when deputies arrived on the scene, the victim reported that a PlayStation game console and an Xbox game console had been stolen from their residence. Other items reported stolen included cables and accessories for the consoles, as well as a virtual reality headset.
Clark said the victim believed it may have been Jenkins, who was reportedly living nearby at a residence at the intersection of Road 325 and Road 240.
Investigators brought Jenkins in for questioning and soon found the stolen items in a nearby shed. Clark said investigators also identified the 17-year-old male who was believed to be involved in the burglary.
Clark said following interviews with both suspects, they gathered enough evidence to charge them with the burglary.
Clark said they also learned that both suspects were involved in a burglary reported on Dec. 6 around midnight at 11061 Road 240 in which a handgun was stolen from a vehicle and an attempt was made to take a motorcycle from a shed.
Clark said the gaming equipment was recovered and returned to the owner.
The suspects said the handgun had been sold to someone from Vicksburg. Clark said the gun has been registered on a national database and said his office is working with Vicksburg authorities to identify who has the stolen firearm and make an arrest.
