A man wanted in connection with a May shooting that sent two people to a Jackson hospital was arrested last week on drug trafficking and other charges, the authorities said.

The man, Chavis Davis, 28, 11080 Road 632, was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of felon in possession of a firearm.

Philadelphia Police Chief Eric Lyons said that drugs were discovered when police served a warrant and that Davis will also be charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and felony child endangerment.

On Wednesday, Sep. 14, officers with the PPD took Davis into custody on outstanding warrants at a residence on south Center Avenue, Lyons said.

“While at the residence, officers observed illegal narcotics in plain view and were able to obtain a search warrant for the residence,” Lyons said.

A search of the property led to the discovery of about 24.3 grams of powder cocaine and about 260 grams of marijuana.

Davis was booked in jail and is awaiting court proceedings.

The Philadelphia Police Department was assisted by the Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office in making the arrest, Lyons said.

Davis was wanted for a 3 a.m. shooting on May 8 that sent two men to a Jackson Hospital. PPD officers responded to the area of Hillcrest Apartments, 105 St. Francis Drive, where there were reports of shots fired, Lyons said.
