A Philadelphia man was arrested after leading police on a high-speed chase through residential areas Friday night.

The man, Terrance G. Durant, 23, 524 Wells Street, was arrested and charged with felony fleeing and malicious mischief, according to Police Chief Eric Lyons.

On Friday, May 30, at about 11 p.m., Philadelphia Police attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on Range Avenue, Lyons said.

“The driver failed to yield to lights and sirens and began fleeing from the officers,” Lyons said.

The driver fled down Range Avenue into the Pendleton Square Apartments and then headed north on Range, turning right onto Rose Street.

According to Lyons, the vehicle finally came to a stop at Line Street near the New Beginnings Adult Daycare, where the driver fled on foot.

After a short foot chase, officers were able to take the driver into custody at about 11:30 p.m., Lyons said.
