Man allegedly tried to hide meth at jail after break-in

A Philadelphia man was allegeldy found with drugs in his possession after he was arrested for attempting to break into a residence on south Donald Avenue last Thursday, the authorities said.

The man, Dariss K. Burks, 28, of Rea Street was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and a charge of attempting to commit a felony, according to Police Chief Eric Lyons.

He said officers located Burks on Ivy Street while responding to a call in the area of south Donald Avenue about reports of an attempted breaking and entering around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 13.

According to Lyons, officers identified Burks as the suspect they were looking for and took Burks to jail.

Once at the jail officers conducted a search of Burks and recovered a bag of methamphetamine he was attempting to conceal, Lyons said.
