Mable Smith Oaks

Services were held Friday, March 14, 2025 at 2 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Bro. Justin Pfeifer officiating. Interment followed in Bloomfield Cemetery. McClain-Hays Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mable Irene Phillips Griffis Smith Oaks, 89, of Philadelphia, MS died March 9, 2025.

Mae was born in Neshoba County, Mississippi to Josephine Spears and Walter Eugene Phillips. She graduated in 1953 from House High School in Neshoba County. She worked for many years in the hospitality industry and loved her garden.

Survivors include her husband, Ferron R. Oaks; son, E. J. Griffis Jr.; granddaughter, Anne M. Griffis (Nicholas) of San Antonio, TX; and Boots, her beloved dog.

Mrs. Oaks was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lena Flemming, Earline Ward, Millie Hughes and Bonnie Jean Moore; brothers, Richard and Jerry Phillips; along with her beloved dogs, including JR and Zoey.
