Luckett named Juco pitcher of the week

Philadelphia High School graduate Nia Luckett, now a member of the Jones College softball team, has been named the MACCC Pitcher of the Week.

Luckett picked up a save in the No. 9 Bobcats' 9-1 victory over No. 2 Mississippi Gulf Coast. She tossed 1.2 innings, giving up no runs, one hit and notched a strikeout. JC led 3-1 when she entered the game. In a 7-4 Bobcat loss, she pitched 3.1 innings, allowed no earned runs, three hits and struck out six.

For the week, she pitched 5.0 innings, giving up no earned runs, four hits and fanned seven.
