Leftist mobs roam LA streets
A throng of illegal aliens and their allies staged open rebellion in Los Angeles over the weekend. Upset that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents were conducting raids nearby, foreigners waving the flags of Mexico and Palestinians torched cars, looted stores and fired pyrotechnic projectiles at the feds.
Left-wing outfits such as the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights rallied fellow travelers, urging as many as possible to hit the L.A. streets and “report” the locations of any ICE agents.
“When our communities are under attack, we unite and fight back!” the coalition wrote on the online echo chamber known as Bluesky.
Tough words for a tax-exempt, 501(c)3 charity that receives taxpayer funding from the state of California and the Department of Homeland Security. A rainbow of far-left and Marxist organizations did the rest of the heavy lifting for the weekend’s professionally orchestrated sedition. Photos from the scene purport to show massive pallets of concrete bricks positioned for the convenience of rioters.
Reminiscent of the CNN broadcast that labeled the burning of Minneapolis during the 2020 George Floyd uprising a “mostly peaceful protest,” the Los Angeles Police Department initially insisted this was also a “peaceful protest.” Thus, Chief Jim McDonnell was too busy refusing to cooperate with ICE to safeguard the property of Angelenos as the mask-wearing foreign mob escalated the mayhem.
“What we saw the first night was bad. What we’ve seen subsequent to that is getting increasingly worse and more violent. Tonight, we had individuals firing commercial-grade fireworks at our officers. That can kill you,” the LAPD chief said. “We are overwhelmed as far as the number of people engaged in this activity.”
In a statement, Mayor Karen Bass sided with the overseas invaders, saying, “Los Angeles will always stand with everyone who calls our city home.” Contrast that sentiment with President Trump, who dispatched 2,000 National Guard soldiers to quell the insurgency, to the dismay of Gov. Gavin Newsom.
The 2028 Democratic presidential aspirant could have but refused to mobilize the Guard to protect the residents of his state. Wherever the liberal party holds sway, disorder is sure to follow because it sees chaos as an effective tool for advancing a political agenda. In this case, fringe leftists wanted to scare federal officials out of enforcing immigration law.
That won’t work this time because the national electorate will no longer tolerate these subversive tactics. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth issued orders to suppress the “dangerous invasion facilitated by criminal cartels.”
When a few thousand Republicans walked through the open doors of the U.S. Capitol in 2021 and spent a few minutes inside the building, the FBI hunted them without mercy. They were lumped in with the handful of agitators who smashed windows and caused minor damage to the seat of government. Judges handed down harsh felony sentences to everyone.
No lesser fate should befall the paid militants behind the brutal assault on the City of Angels. Left-wing strategists presume the sight of armed troops on the streets of America’s second-largest city will convey the impression that Mr. Trump is an authoritarian.
They are wrong. If anything, the situation reinforces the importance of deportations to the 80% of Americans who prefer to go to sleep at night without worrying about the possibility of a Venezuelan gang member paying an unannounced visit.
This pathetic revolt will be put down, and the organizers must be locked up so it never happens again.
