The Leake Academy tennis team had a busy week as they played two district matches, beating Park Place and losing to Simpson County Academy.

On Tuesday, Leake beat Park Place 6-3. In girls singles, Taylor Allen won 6-3, 6-0 while Shelby Rudolph won 6-1, 6-2. In boys singles, William Warner won 7-6 (3), 6-0 to help secure the win for the Rebels. In girls doubles, Katie Warner and Aubrey Rudolph won 7-6 (4), 2-6, 10-3 in a third-set tiebreaker while Taylor Breland and Liza Kate Long won 6-3, 6-4. In boys doubles, Hagen Bobo and Hayden Jenkins won 6-3, 6-2 while Mitch Pucklitsch and Brady Thornton lost 6-2, 6-1. Anika Armstrong and Grayson Atchley lost 6-1, 6-0 at mixed doubles.

On Thursday, Leake lost 6-3 to Simpson. In girls singles, Taylor Allen was strong again as she won 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 1 spot while Shelby Rudolph won 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot. William Warner also cruised at the No. 1 boys spot, winning 6-0, 6-0. In girls doubles, Leake dropped both spots as Katie Warner and Aubrey Rudolph lost 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 1 spot while Liza Kate Long and Taylor Breland lost 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 2 spot. In boys doubles, Hagen Bobo and Hayden Jenkins lost 6-1, 4-6, 10-7. At No. 2 boys doubles, Grayson Atchley and Brady Thornton lost 1-6, 7-5, 12-10.

Leake will return to play on Tuesday as they travel to Union and then will host East Rankin on Thursday. On Saturday, Leake will play in the All-Area Tournament in Meridian.
