Leake Lady Rebels dominate in 3 regional games

The Leake Academy Lady Rebels dominated their competition as they rolled up three district wins.

The Lady Rebels defeated Heritage 57-16, Lamar 55-27 and East Rankin 58-17. The Lady Rebels held the opposition to single digits in the first half in all three games.

Leake Academy stands at 24-2 heading into the week. They are ranked No. 2 in a state poll of MISA girls basketball teams.

Miriam Prince scored 22 points to lead Leake past Heritage. Emmi Harkins scored 10 points while Mabry Mayfield scored six points and pulled down eight rebounds. The Lady Rebels led 38-8 at the half.

Prince scored 19 points and Harkins put in 13 to lead the Lady Rebels past Lamar. Leake Academy led 34-8 at the half.

Prince scored 21 points to lead the Lady Rebels while Mayfield scored 10 and Harkins put in eight. Leake Academy led 35-7 at the half.

Leake Academy boys

The Leake Academy boys won one-of-three games last week. They lost to Heritage 54-52 and Lamar 70-66. They closed out the week with a 56-49 win over East Rankin.

Clay Kemp scored 20 points and Garrett Dunn put in 13 points in the Rebels’ loss to Heritage. The Rebels were a missed shot away from tying the game in the final seconds.

Lamar came on strong in the second half to take the win over the Rebels. Kemp led with 27 and Dunn scored 17.

Leake Academy led East Rankin 30-26 at the half and held on for the win. Kemp led with 17 and Dunn added 13.

Leake Academy was to play Winston Tuesday and close out the regular season at home against Hillcrest. The district tournament starts next week at Winston Academy.
