The Leake Academy girls ran their current win streak to eight games as they picked up three more wins this past week. 

Leake Academy opened the week with a 62-40 win over East Rankin and then beat Park Place 68-21. They finished the week with a 75-27 win over Winston Academy.

The Leake boys won two out of three games as they beat East Rankin 62-31 before losing to Park Place 73-40. The Rebels finished the week with a 58-46 win over Winston.

Leake will finish out the regular season this week with a pair of road games. Leake will travel to Simpson County Academy on Tuesday and then to Lamar on Friday. Both Leake teams will then play in the district tournament the following week at Winston Academy.

Rebelettes 62

East Rankin girls 40

The Rebelettes jumped out to a double-digit lead in the first period and cruised to a 22-point win over the Lady Patriots on Tuesday.   

Leake jumped out to a 20-9 lead in the first period and outscored East Rankin 17-8 in the second to lead 37-17 at the half. Leake then outscored East Rankin 14-11 in the third to extend the lead to 51-28 at the half. East Rankin took the final period 12-11 for the final margin.

Miriam Prince had a big night shooting with a season-high 29 points, going 6-of-8 from the 3-point line and 9-of-11 overall from the field. Prince also had six assists and four rebounds. Katye Jones had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds while Emeri Warren had nine points and seven rebounds. Laney Turner also chipped in five points. 

Rebels boys 62

East Rankin 31

The Rebels outscored the Patriots in every period and cruised to a 31-point win.

Leake led 15-10 at the end of the first and outscored East Rankin 15-12 in the second to lead 30-22 at the half. Leake then exploded in the third period and outscored East Rankin 19-3 to take a 49-31 lead going to the fourth. Leake then outscored East Rankin 13-6 to take the win.

Samuel Prince led Leake with 18 points while Whitt Welch had 15 points and Jake Freeny added nine points. 

Rebelettes 68

Park Place 21

The Rebelettes dominated the first half and cruised to a 47-point win over the Lady Crusaders. 

Leake jumped out to a 22-2 lead and outscored Park Place 21-4 to lead 43-6 at the half. Park Place took the fourth 7-5 while Leake finished by outscoring the Lady Crusaders 20-8 in the fourth. 

Miriam Prince led Leake with 16 points while Raylea Atkinson had 13 points. Morgan Freeny had 11 points while Natalee Vaughn had seven points. Ella Bell and Emeri Warren each had five points apiece. 

Park Place boys 73

Rebels 40

The Crusaders dominated the first half and cruised to a 33-point in on Thursday.

Park Place led 23-9 at the end of the first and outscored the Rebels 20-6 in the second to lead 43-15 at the half. Park Place outscored Leake 26-16 in the third to lead 69-31 going to the fourth. Leake took the fourth 7-5 for the final margin.

Samuel Prince led Leake with 16 points while Jake Freeny had nine points and Aiden Watkins had six points. 

Rebelettes 75

Winston 27

The Rebelettes scored early and often and took an easy 48-point win on senior night to improve to 25-2 on the season.

Leake outscored Winston 25-11 in the first period and 25-5 in the second period to lead 50-16 at the half. Leake continued to extend its lead in the second half, outscoring Winston 10-9 in the third and 15-2 in the fourth. 

Miriam Prince led Leake with 21 points, four assists and three rebounds. While Marleigh Myers had 10 points and four rebounds. Grace Maxey had nine points while Katyle Jones had eight points and five rebounds. Natalee Vaughn had eight points while Emeri Warren and Laney Turner each had six points apiece.

Rebels 58

Winston 46

The Rebels jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a 12-point win over the Patriots on Friday night.

Leake led 18-8 at the end of the first and then outscored Winston 16-7 in the second to lead 34-15 at the half. Each team scored 11 in the third period as Leake led 45-26 going to the fourth. Winston outscored Leake 20-13 in the fourth for the final margin.

Jake Freeny led Leake with 20 points while Aiden Watkins had 13 points. Gavin White had nine points and 15 rebounds while Aiden Watkins and Samuel Prince had eight points apiece.
