The Leake Academy Lady Rebels picked up three victories last week in prep basketball action as they improved their record to 17-2.

Leake Academy has four games lined up for this week. The Rebel teams were to play East Rankin on Tuesday, at home against Winston on Thursday, at Starkville Academy on Friday and at home against Manchester on Saturday. The East Rankin game will be a boys game only. The ERA girls team has been quarantined because of a COVID-19 outbreak,  

The Lady Rebels defeated Lamar School 62-20, Heritage Academy 64-34, and Simpson 60-50. The Lady Rebels are ranked No. 2 in the state in a poll of Mid-South Independent Schools Association girls basketball teams.

The Lady Rebels took a 31-6 lead in the first quarter against Lamar School and never looked back. Emmi Harkins scored 26 points to pace Leake Academy while Miriam Prince added 15 points and Natalee Vaugh put in 12 points.

The Lady Rebels took a 40-15 halftime lead against Heritage Academy. Prince led with 21 points. Emeri Warren and Hawkins both scored nine points. Mabry Mayfield had six rebounds.

Leading 10-8 after the first quarter, the Lady Rebels outscored Simpson 26-12 to take a 36-20 halftime lead, Leake Academy held off Simpson in the second half.

The Leake Academy boys went 1-2 in games played last week. They opened with a 74-65 overtime win over Lamar School. Then they dropped a 77-48 decision to Heritage Academy and an 80-47 loss to Simpson.

The Rebels outscored Lamar School 14-5 in overtime to take the victory. Clay Kemp led the Rebels with 19 points while Garrett Dunn added 17 points and Nic Sprayberry scored 15 points.

Heritage pulled away from the Rebels in the second and third quarters. Kemp and Sprayberry both scored 10 points to lead the Rebels.

Simpson went up 49-26 at the half against the Rebels and held on for the win. Dunn led the Rebels with 14 points while Kemp added 12.
