Lady Yellowjackets lose to Nanih Waiya, Morton

The Union Lady Yellowjackets lost two of three games last week on the softball diamond.

The Lady Yellowjackets beat Meridian 14-9 but lost 3-2 to Nanih Waiya and 12-2 to Morton.

On Saturday, the Lady Yellowjackets split a pair of games, beating Meridian 14-9 but losing to Morton 12-2. Union is set to play at Ethel on Thursday and then return to Ethel on Saturday to play in the Ethel Tournament.

The Lady Yellowjackets were unable to scratch out a win in a one-run contest with the Lady Warriors on Tuesday.

Union outhit Nanih Waiya 6-4 in the contest. Dallas Brown was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and drove in both of Union's runs. DaShayla Jackson singled and scored a run while Kenley Pullin and Jordan Turner each had singles. Anna Grace Blount scored Union's other run.

Britili Cleveland pitched six innings and gave up four runs on three hits and two walks while striking out seven.

The Lady Yellowjackets raced out to a 9-1 lead and cruised to a five-run win over the Lady Wildcats on Saturday at Newton County.

Union had seven hits in the contest, led by Anna Grace Blount who was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Tiara Campbell doubled and scored two runs while DaShayla Jackson and Dallas Brown singled and scored two runs. Alan Wheeler and Abbie Jenkins each scored two runs apiece.

Jordan Turner also doubled for Union. Brown had four stolen bases while Wheeler had three steals and Jackson had two steals.

The Lady Yellowjackets managed just two hits as they drooped a 10-run decision to the Lady Panthers on Saturday at Newton County.

Morton outhit Union 11-2 in the contest. DaShayla Jackson singled and scored a run for Union. Dallas Brown had Union's other hit while Anna Grace Blount scored Union's other run.

Brown started and pitch two innings, giving up four runs on two hits and four walks while striking out two. Britili Cleveland pitched the last 3 2/3 innings and gave up eight runs on nine hits and three walks while striking out three.
