Lady Warriors tune up for Region 4-4A tournament
The Choctaw Central Lady Warriors enter the final week of the regular season with a 16-3 overall record.
Choctaw Central is undefeated in the Region 4-4A standings and will most likely be the No. 1 seeded team in next week’s region tournament which will be held at Louisville High School.
The Lady Warriors went 3-0 last week as they defeated West Lauderdale 77-16, Leake Central 62-51 and New Site, 70-63.
The Lady Warriors settled the issue early as they went up 29-7 at the end of the first quarter vs. West Lauderdale. Kyla Farmer led with 18 points while Sarah Williams scored 11 points.
The Lady Warriors led Leake Central 27-15 at the half. But the Lady Gators came back and made it a closer game in the second half. Carly Keats led with 23 points while Meloney Thames and Shantashia John both scored 11 points.
The Lady Warriors traveled out of the region to take on New Site Saturday and came home with a 70-63 victory over the 25-2 Lady Royals,
Choctaw Central led 24-16 at the end of the first quarter. The Lady outscored New Site 15-7 in the second quarter and led 39-23 at the half. New Site battled back in the second half, outscoring the Lady Warriors 40-31 over the two quarters. But Choctaw Central held on for the win.
Keats led with 19 points while John and Thames both added 14 points each.

The Warriors battled hard for a 55-50 win over West Lauderdale. The Knights led 30-23 at the half. The Warriors came back to take the win. Thomas Tingle led with 16 points and Speedy Lewis scored 13. Brayson Samuel scored 11.
Leake Central proved to be too much for the Warriors on this night as the Gators took a 58-29 win. Samuel and Abram Cotton both scored nine points.
Choctaw Central will close out the regular season this week. Both teams visit Northeast Lauderdale on Tuesday and Louisville on Friday. The Lady Warriors were to play West Lauderdale in a makeup game Monday.
