Lady Rockets’ softball team enters week with 15-2 record

The Neshoba Central Lady Rockets picked two victories on the field and two forfeits last week to improve their record to 15-2 coming int this week.

The Lady Rockets picked up wins over Kosciusko 3-1 and Choctaw Central 12-0. Holmes Central forfeited two games.

Neshoba Central will play two games this week. Weather permitting, they were to host Canton on Tuesday and Wayne County on Friday. A game scheduled with Enterprise Monday was cancelled.

“We have a young team and we need to be playing more games,” Coach Zach Sanders said. “We are starting two seniors and the rest are ninth and 10th graders and one eighth grader.

“The weather has been a problem. The girls are working hard and we were playing well when we put some games together.”

Kosciusko 1

Lanayah Henry pitched seven innings, struck out four batters and allowed just four hits to lead the Lady Rockets past Kosciusko.

Neshoba Central scored one in the third, one in the fourth and one in the sixth. Kosciusko scored its run in the third.

Mauhree Jones hit a triple to pace the Lady Rockets. Tenly Grisham had two hits and scored a run while Dakota Williamson hit a single.

Choctaw Central 0

Neshoba Central pounded out 10 hits to take a victory over Choctaw Central.

The Lady Rockets scored six in the first, five in the second and one in the fourth.

Jones was the winning pitcher.

Hama’ya Fielder hit a triple while scoring two runs and knocking in two more. Miley Thomas hit a triple, a double and a single. She scored three runs and knocked in three more. Williamson had two singles and knocked in a pair of runs, Tenly Grisham had two hits while Charmayne Morris had two hits will scoring a run and knocking another in.
