The Neshoba Central Lady Rockets’ season reached a new milestone this week.

Neshoba Central was ranked No. 1 in the state by the Max Preps Top 25 poll heading into this week. For most of the season, the Lady Rockets have been the top team in the Class 5A poll and No. 2 in the overall poll behind Harrison Central. The Lady Red Rebels were No. 1 before losing to Hancock 51-46 on Jan. 4.

Harrison Central is a Class 6A school and will not play Neshoba Central this season.

Last week, the Neshoba Central girls picked up two Region 3-5A victories as they defeated Holmes County Central 85-35 and Ridgeland 74-44.

The Neshoba Central boys lost twice, falling 79-51 to Holmes County. The Rockets also dropped a 53-50 decision to Ridgeland.

Both Neshoba Central teams will travel to Canton on Tuesday and host Bay Springs on Friday.

The Lady Rockets will take on Clinton High School in the Rumble in the South Classic on Saturday at Mississippi College. The tipoff is at 7:30 p.m.
