Lady Rebels softball team picks up 2 wins

After a tough start to the season, the Leake Academy softball team got back on track this past week.

The Lady Rebels played just two games but took an 18-0 win over Winston Academy on Tuesday and then an 11-1 win over Newton County Academy on Thursday.

Leake will return to play this week as they play at Simpson on Tuesday and will host Newton on Thursday.

The Lady Rebels used a pair of five-run innings to take a run-rule victory over the Lady Generals on Thursday.

Leake outhit NCA 14-5 in the contest. Miley Billie was 3-for-4 with two RBIs while Lily McDonald was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Grace Maxie was 2-for-2 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBIs. Raylea Atkinson was 2-for-3 while Olivia Rudolph was 2-for-2 with two runs scored. Emeri Warren also tripled scored two runs while Ella Bell also scored twice.

Atkinson started in the circle and pitched four innings, scattering five hits while striking out four. K.K. Goodin pitched the last inning and gave up one unearned run. 

Against Winston, the Lady Rebels had little trouble with the Lady Patriots as they opened district play on Tuesday. 

 Leake had eight hits and drew nine walks in the contest. Emeri Warren was 2-for-2 with two doubles and two runs scored while Miley Billie was 2-for-2 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs. Grace Maxey homered and drove in three runs while Raylea Atkinson doubled and drove in three runs as well. Emmajane Lepard walked twice and scored three runs while Marleigh Myers, Caroline Cheatham and Ella Bell each scored two runs apiece.

Atkinson started in the circle and pitched two innings and gave up on hit and one walk. K.K. Goodin pitched the last inning and struck out three.
