Lady Rebels remain undefeated; Leake boys win first

The Leake Academy Lady Rebels continue to steamroll opponents while the Rebels grabbed their first win of the season last week.

The Lady Rebels rolled to a 56-29 win over Magnolia Heights and finished off the week with a 56-30 win over Central Hinds. Meanwhile, the Leake Academy boys lost 66-43 to Magnolia Heights and beat Central Hinds 48-44 for their first win of the season.

Leake will return from the Thanksgiving break with a pair of home games as they host Simpson on Dec. 3 and Canton on Dec. 5.

The Chiefs built a big first-half lead and cruised to a 23-point win.

Hagan Pike led Leake with 14 points while Garrett Dunn had nine points. Henry Dabbs, Ben Harrison and Hagan Davis each had five points apiece.

The Lady Rebels had little trouble with the Lady Chiefs as they took a 27-point win on Tuesday.

Leake led 19-7 at the end of the first and outscored Magnolia Heights 20-9 in the second to lead 39-16 at the half. Leake continued to pour it on in the third, outscoring Magnolia Heights 17-3 to lead 56-19 for a running clock in the fourth.

Miriam Prince led Leake with 15 points while Ashley Smith had 12 points, six rebounds and five assists. Emmi Harkins had 10 points while Emeri Warren had six points.

The Rebels overcame a half-time deficit to take a four-point victory over the Cougars for their first win of the season.

After each team scored 15 points in the first period, Central Hinds outscored Leake 12-9 in the second at lead 27-24 at the half. Leake took the lead in the third, outscoring Central Hinds 12-8 to lead 36-35 at the end of the third. Leake took the fourth 12-9 for the final margin.

Senior Ben Harrison led Leake with 13 points while Garrett Dunn and Hagan Davis each had nine points apiece. Henry Dabbs added seven points.

The Lady Rebels jumped out to a big lead and cruised to a 26-point win over the Lady Cougars on Thursday.

Leake led 16-6 at the end of the first and outscored Central Hinds 18-5 in the second to lead 34-11 at the half. Leake extended the lead in the third as they outscored Central Hinds 16-10 to lead 50-21 going into the fourth.

Ashley Smith led with 15 points and six rebounds. Emmi Harkins had 12 points and six rebounds while Emeri Warren had eight points. Mabry Mayfield had 10 rebounds.
