Lady Rebels pick up 3 wins, 2 losses on diamond during week

The Leake Academy softball team had a busy week on the softball diamond, getting in five games last week.

Leake opened the week with a 12-9 loss to Wayne on Monday in district play before beating Park Place 13-3 on Tuesday.

The Lady Rebels then played in the MRA Tournament on Saturday. They opened with a 5-3 loss to Benton before beating North Delta 11-1 and Hartfield 5-3.

Leake, now 7-6 on the season, will host Pillow on Monday and play at East Rankin on Tuesday to finish out the week.

Wayne 12, Leake 9

The Lady Rebels led most of the game before the Lady Jaguars scored eight runs in the seventh to take a three-run win on Monday in district play.

Wayne scored one in the first and third and two in the second and led 4-3 after three. But Leake scored three in the fourth and two in the sixth and led 8-4. But Wayne scored eight in the seventh to take the win.

Leake had 10 hits in the contest, led by Lily McDonald who was 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, three runs scored and three RBIs. Marleigh Myers was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs while Raylee Quick was 2-for-5 with two runs scored.

Kylee Boykin started in the circle and pitched six innings, giving up 10 runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three. Quick got the last three outs and gave up two unearned runs on one hit and one walk.

Leake 13, Park Place 3

The Lady Rebels used a big fourth inning to take a run-rule win over the Lady Crusaders on Tuesday in district play.

Leake scored four in the first and one in the second and led 5-0. But Park Place scored three in the third and cut the lead to 5-3. But Leake scored eight in the bottom of the fourth to take the win.

Leake had 12 hits in the contest as Raylee Quick was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Lily McDonald continued her strong hitting, going 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Marleigh Myers was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored while Kollyns Moore was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Kylee Boykin doubled and scored two runs while Zoe Shepherd singled and drove in three runs. Brealynn Malone also scored two runs.

Quick started in the circle and pitched all five innings, giving up three runs on two hits and seven walks while striking out four to pick up the win.

Benton 7, Leake 5

The Lady Raiders used a five-run fourth inning to take a time-limit win on Saturday.

Leake scored two runs in the first and second innings and led 4-0. But Benton scored two in the third and five in the fourth while Leake added one in the third.

Leake outhit Benton 8-5. Zoe Shepherd was 2-for-3 and had double and an RBI. Kylee Boykin, Raylee Quick and Brealynn Malone all singled and scored a run while Marleigh Myers singled and drove in two runs.

Myers started in the circle and pitched four innings, giving up seven runs on five hits and three walks. Quick pitched the last inning and struck out three.

Leake 11, North Delta 1

The Lady Rebels jumped out to an early leading took a four-inning win on Saturday.

Leake scored four in the first and six in the second to cruise to the win.

The Lady Rebels had 10 hits and took advantage of five errors and four walks. Marleigh Myers was 2-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and three RBIs. Brealynn Malone was 2-for-3 with two RBIs by Sydnee Jones was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Lily McDonald was 2-for-4 while Raylee Quick walked twice and scored two runs. Zoe Shepherd and Brooklyn Wade each singled and scored a run while Kollyns Moore scored twice.

Kylee Boykin pitched all four innings to get the win, giving up one unearned run on four hits and two walks while striking out two.

Leake 5, Hartfield 3

The Lady Rebels finished with a pair of two-run innings and took a two-run win over the Lady Hawks on Saturday.

Hartfield led 2-1 after four innings before Leake scored two in the fifth and sixth to take the win.

Leake had 10 hits in the contest, led by Marleigh Myers who was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Lily McDonald and Kylee Boykin were each 2-for-4 and scored a run while Zoe Shepherd was 2-for-3 and scored run. Brealynn Malone also singled, scored and drove in a run.

Raylee Quick started in the circle and pitched all five innings, giving up three runs on nine hits and three walks to pick up the win.
