The Leake Academy Lady Rebels are right where they want to be as they open the Class 5A playoffs.

Leake opened the Class 5A North State tournament with a pair of wins on Saturday, beating Bayou Academy 4-1 and Pillow Academy 8-1 to advance in the winner’s bracket.

Leake, now 20-2 on the season, will be back in action on Monday as they play in a winner’s bracket game in the north 5A tournament at Senatobia.

The Lady Rebels trailed the majority of the game and scored all four of their runs in the sixth inning to take a three-run win over the Lady Colts on Saturday in a winner’s bracket game.

Bayou scored one in the second before Leake answered with four in the sixth to take the win.

In the sixth, Leake started the inning as Emeri Warren singled and went to second on a wild pitch. Miley Billie then reached on a bunt to the pitcher and Warren went to third. Lilly McDonald then bunted Warren on a fielder’s choice to tie the game at 1-1. Emmajane Lepard moved Billie and McDonald to second and third with a sacrifice bunt. Grace Maxie then bunted to the pitcher and reached on a fielder’s choice. Billie scored to make the score 2-1. Raylea Atkinson then singled to right file to score McDonald and put Maxey at third and make the score 3-1. Olivia Rudolph then put down a sacrifice bunt to score Maxey. 

Leake had six hits in the contest as Warren, Billie and Atkinson were each 2-for-3 in the game.

Lynleigh Burt pitched all seven innings and gave up one run on three hits while striking out eight.

The Lady Rebels opened up the North 5A Tournament on Saturday with a seven-run win over the Lady Mustangs.

Leake scored two in the first and third, three in the fifth and one in the sixth to take the win.

Leake had 10 hits and took advantage of five errors by Pillow. Millie Billie was 2-for-4 with a triple, home run and three RBIs. Emeri Warren was 2-for-4 with a double while Lilly McDonald was 2-for-3. Jenna Chamblee singled and scored two runs while Katye Jones scored two runs. Raylea Atkinson, Olivia Rudolph and Caroline Cheatham each singled for Leake.

Lynleigh Burt pitched all seven innings and gave up one run on four hits and seven strikeouts.
