The Leake Academy Lady Rebels didn't have any trouble knocking off the rust from the Christmas holidays.

The Lady Rebels won both games they played in the Canton Tournament, beating River Oaks 76-26 and Riverfield 74-11.

The Rebels split the two games they played, beating River Oaks 70-61 and losing to Riverfield 67-56.

Leake will return to action this week as they host Heritage Academy on Friday in a district contest.

River Oaks 26

The Lady Rebels used a big first period and took a 50-point win over River Oaks on Saturday.

The Lady Rebels jumped out to a 30-7 lead in the first half and outscored River Oaks 16-8 in the second to lead 46-15 at the half. The Lady Rebels extended the lead in the third, outscoring River Oaks 22-4 in the third to lead 58-19 going into the fourth.

Miriam Prince led Leake with 18 points, four steals and four assists while Mabry Mayfield had 11 points and 10 rebounds. Ashley Smith had 11 points, four assists and four steals. Emeri Warren had nine points and five rebounds while Emmi Harkins had nine points, six assists and five steals. Laney Turner had six points while Savanna Greer had five points and five rebounds. Laura Katherine Clair also had five rebounds for the Lady Rebels.

River Oaks 61

The Rebels used a big second period as they took a nine-point win over the Mustangs on Saturday.

Leake Academy led 14-13 at the end of first period but outscored River Oaks 26-14 in the second to lead 40-27 at the half. River Oaks outscored Leake 16-11 in the third to cut the lead to 51-43 going into the fourth. Leake took the fourth period 19-18 for the final margin.


Ben Harrison led Leake with 24 points while Henry Dabbs had 17 points. Cole Arthur also chipped in nine points.

Riverfield 11

The Lady Rebels had little trouble as they took a 63-point win over the Lady Raiders.

Leake jumped out to a 25-3 lead in the first period and outscored Riverfield 24-4 in the second to lead 49-7 at the half. The Lady Rebels continued to extend its lead in the second half, outscoring Riverfield 15-2 in the third and 10-2 in the fourth.

Maybry Mayfield led a balanced scoring attack with 10 points, six rebounds and four steals. Morgan Freeny had nine points while Emeri Warren had eight points and four rebounds. Miriam Prince, Emmi Harkins and Laney Turner each had seven points apiece while Deanna Wilder had six points. McKinley Allen had five points while Ashley Smith had four points and four rebounds.





Riverfield 67

Riverfield used a big third period to pull away and take an 11-point win over the Rebels.

Leake led most of the first half as they outscored Riverfield 19-17 in the first and 15-12 in the second to lead 34-29 at the half. But Riverfield outscored Leake 20-9 in the third to take a 49-43 lead into the fourth. Riverheld held off Leake 18-14 in fourth for the final margin.

Henry Dabbs led Leake with 12 points while Garrett Dunn added nine points.
