Lady Rebels continue 8-game win streak on the diamond

The Leake Academy softball team picked up three more wins this week, running their win streak to eight straight.

The Lady Rebels opened the week with an 11-10 win over Simpson Academy and then finished out the week with a 6-3 win over Tri-County and a 2-0 win over Bayou Academy on Saturday. 

Leake, now 10-2 on the season, will return to play this week as they host Hillcrest Christian on Monday and will play at Park Place on Tuesday. Leake will finish out the week on Saturday at the Winston Academy Tournament.

Simpson 10

The Lady Rebels used a seven-run win over the Lady Cougars to take a one-run win on Tuesday.

Leake scored single runs in the first, third, fourth and fifth and led 4-2 after five innings. Simpson then scored five in the top of the sixth before Leake scored seven in the bottom of the sixth to take an 11-7 lead. Simpson scored three in the top of the seventh for the final margin. 

Simpson outhit Leake 14-10 in the contest but the Rebels drew seven walks in the contest. 

Grace Maxey was 2-for-3 with two solo home runs while Lily McDonald was 2-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs. Emeri Warren was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs scored while Miley Billie was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. 

Lynleigh Burt started in the circle and pitched five innings, giving up five runs on nine hits while striking out three. Raylea Atkinson pitched two innings and gave up five runs on five hits to pick up the win.

Tri-County 3

The Lady Rebels banged out 12 hits and took a three-run win over Tri-County on Saturday at the Bayou Tournament. 

McDonald was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs while Maxey was 3-for-3. Warren was 2-for-3 while Marleigh Myers doubled and drove in two runs. 

Burt pitched 4 2/3 innings and gave up three runs on nine hits and two walks to pick up the win.

Bayou 0

The Lady Rebels got a shutout performance from Burt and took a five-inning, time-limit win over the Lady Colts.

Leake scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

Leake outhit Bayou 8-4 in the contest. McDonald continued her hot hitting, going 2-for-3 in the contest with a double. Raylea Atkinson and Warren each had doubles and drove in a run. Jenna Chamblee was also 2-for-2 with a pair of singles.

Burt pitched 4 2/3 innings and gave up four hits and struck out two.
