Lady Rebels add 3 more Ws on the diamond

The Leake Academy softball team picked up three more wins this past week as they got rolling with regular season play.

The Lady Rebels took two more games from Newton County Academy, winning 9-4 on Tuesday and 10-0 on Thursday. Leake finished out the week on Friday with an 18-3 win over defending champion Hillcrest Christian on Friday.

Leake will return to play this week as they host Marshall on Monday and travel to Winston on Tuesday. They will finish then play at Marshall on Thursday before playing in the Tri-County Tournament on Saturday.

Hillcrest Christian 3

The Lady Rebels needed just three innings to take a run-rule win over the Lady Cougars on Friday.

Leake scored nine in the first, eight in the second and one in the third.

Leake outhit Hillcrest 16-4 in the contest as Jenna Chamblee went 4-for-4 with a double, triple, three runs scored and two RBIs. Emeri Warren was 3-for-3 with a triple with two runs scored and two RBIs while Miley Billie was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Caroline Cheatham was 2-for-2 with a triple, three runs scored and two RBIs while Raylea Atkinson was 2-for-2. Grace Maxey had a home run, scored three runs and had two RBIs while Lilly McDonald also doubled and drove in two runs.

Atkinson started on the mound and pitched all three innings, giving up three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out five.

NCA 0

The Lady Rebels took their third win over the Lady Generals with a one-hit shutout on Thursday. 

Leake scored one in the second, seven in the fourth and two in the fifth.

Leake outhit NCA 13-1 in the contest. Jenna Chamblee was 2-for-3 and drove in four runs while Lilly McDonald was 2-for-3 with a double. Grace Maxey was 2-for-3 with two runs while while Raylea Atkinson was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Caroline Cheatham was also 2-for-2 while Emeri Warren also doubled.

Lynleigh Burt started in the circle and got the win as she gave up just one hit and one walk while striking out two.

NCA 4

The Lady Rebels pulled away late to take a five-run win over the Lady Generals on Tuesday. 

Leake scored single runs in the first five innings while NCA scored one in the second and three in the fourth as the Lady Rebels led 5-4 going to the seventh. But Leake scored four runs in the seventh to pull away and take the win.

Leake had 13 hits in the contest as Miley Billie was 3-for-4 with three doubles and two RBIs. Emeri Warren was 3-for-4 while Emmajane Lepard was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Grace Maxey was also 2-for-4 and scored two runs while Lily McDonald scored two runs and had two RBIs. Olivia Rudolph also doubled and drove in two runs.

Lynleigh Burt started in the circle and pitched all seven innings, giving up four runs on eight hits.
