Sam Mars recently become a new member of the Citizens National Bank Team as a Relationship Banker. Sam has 12 years of experience in the banking business and brings many skills to his new position.

He is a proven leader in the Neshoba County area and will work hard for his customers with quick responses to requests for help from them. Congratulations!

Ty Martin was the guest speaker at the Philadelphia Rotary Club at their Monday meeting on Aug. 22. Ty, a senior at Neshoba Central High School, spoke about his fantastic experience serving as a Page in Washington, D.C. this spring. He was a great representative for his school, our county and our state! Thank you for doing such a fine job!

Friday, Aug. 19, marked the end of the second week of school for the Philadelphia Pubic School District. A Tornado Warning was issued by Superintendent Whitehead for a Category T3-Tornado Teacher Treat Day! 

The warning told everyone to Take Cover! Category T3 Tornado Teacher Treats Are Headed Your Way! Thanks for all you do for the students of the Philadelphia Public School District! Superintendent Whitehead would like to thank you for a great 2nd week of school!

Superintendent Shana Whitehead visited each classroom and presented the teacher with a tasty bag of treats! It was such an amazing gesture!

The American Country Music Honors Awards night was held in Nashville on Wednesday, Aug. 24. It was an amazing night for fans including Daniel and Madison Hardy Dennis and Mike and Sarah Hardy who proudly watched as Michael Hardy officially received the ACM 2022 Songwriter of the Year Award.

The evening celebrated many deserving people in the music industry who have contributed much to the genre. The event was held in the historic Ryman Auditorium and attracted a large audience. Congratulations to Michael (HARDY)!

Happy Anniversary to former Philadelphia residents, Darrell and Naomi Bates, who celebrated their 41st Anniversary! Best wishes for many nore happy years together!

On her 76th birthday, Phyllis Prince received the most precious gift she had ever received, another grandson, Andrew Prince! They celebrate together with family each year on Aug. 14 and share a birthday cake! He is the son of Phillip and Valeria Prince. Happy Birthdays!

Many of our local students have started classes at their universities and have settled into their new places of residence. Some are new and some are returning students, all of whom are ready for a new semester.

Attending the University of Mississippi this fall are Emma Taylor, Burgin McClellan who is in graduate school, Stephen Lombard, Sofia Enyoque, and Sophie Meruvia in her first year of Law School.

     Kara Daly returned to the University of Southern Mississippi for her sophomore year.  Tamia Hudson is a junior at Alcorn State University in the School of Nursing. 

Attending Mississippi State for their freshman year are Meredith Adams and Henry Dabbs.  Tyler Jordan Greer has returned to the University of Kentucky after a memorable summer studying in Prague. Maggie Rhodes is back at UMMC's School of Nursing. Best of luck for a great year to each of you!
