Leake Academy student Miriam Prince was invited to a Mississippi State University basketball practice where she also met Sam Purcell, Head Coach of the Women’s basketball team and his staff. He was professional and inspirational. The staff and players were so kind to Miriam who, according to her farther, Philip Prince, smiled the whole time! Miriam is a talented, outstanding member of the Lady Rebels basketball team and an upcoming senior at Leake Academy.

Miriam was fortunate to be one of the few students to have the experience she had at MSU. Most people do not realize all of the hours she has put in just to get an invitation. The things she has learned during her basketball career will transfer into her life after the game is over. That’s a win, according to her father.

Her very proud parents are Philip and Valeria Prince who are not only proud of her basketball talents, but also because she is a “good kid.” Her grandparents are Jimmy and Phyllis Prince. Congratulations!

The National Youth Cutting Horse Association WORLD FINALS will be held soon in Fort Worth, Texas. Three entrants from Neshoba County: Cody Cain, Annie Kate White, and Taylor Allen, will compete on their amazing horses. It is a great honor to make the final cut to compete in the World Finals. These three young people have worked hard to earn their chances to ride in this competition.    They have practiced and trained their horses to respond to their commands.

It is an awesome sight to see how well each one does on horseback during their practice sessions. Good luck to each and every one of these fine you people.
