May 5th was a very special day for Neda Byars who celebrated her 92nd birthday. Her family was so very thankful to help this extraordinary woman mark this monumental milestone. Her son, David Byars, and her two grandchildren, Carly Byars Rounsaville and Clay Byars, each brought their two children and their spouses to spend Mama Neda's birthday with her. Happy Birthday!

Members of the Choctaw Central High School ACT 20+ Club were honored with a luncheon at the Dancing Rabbit Golf Club Restaurant.

It was a beautiful day for an outdoor event on the porches overlooking the gorgeous landscaped area surrounding the club house. Students were seated at several long tables covered with white table cloths and fresh floral centerpieces down the center of each table.

Tribal Chief Cyrus Ben, Director of Schools, Dr. Grierson, and Choctaw Central High School Principal, Alaric Keams extended their congratulations to the students on their remarkable achievement.

Since Mary Moseley Pickering officially started Long Term Maintenance on April 26, she was able to make her first visit to Northside Park to attend her brother, Jackson's baseball game on May 2. It was a big event for Mary Mo since it was the first game she has been able to attend in two seasons.

She also threw out the first pitch for her brother's game.  Wearing a baseball cap and dark glasses, she gave that ball a mighty pitch onto the field.  Jackson's team all wore red shirts with the slogan, "Fight Like a Kid" on the front and a white ribbon folded in the cancer awareness symbol. Jackson's team won the game and he was awarded the game ball.   It was a memorable event for the entire Pickering-Long families. Her parents are Blake and Jessica Long Pickering who attended. This was such good news for this tiny mighty warrior. God bless her and please keep the prayers coming!

The Clinton High School Players of the Week, sponsored by Chick Fil-A, were Leslie Brunson and Keaton Cole. Both of these tennis players won their doubles matches against Pearl High School and won singles against Mendenhall High School. Keaton's very proud grandparents are Sellers and Julia Cole of Philadelphia.  Congratulations!

The last weekend in April found the Diamond Elite Black baseball team in Flowood playing in the Perfect Game Tournament. The Diamond Elite Black team won the tournament and was undefeated all weekend! This is a team that plays so well together and functions as one team.

Hutt Rushing hit another home run, several RBI's, and his pitching was flawless, striking out 10 players in the Championship game. He was chosen as MVP by the opposing coach which was a great honor! Congratulations to each and every member of the team for playing such a fantastic tournament!

Romily and I have a new member of our family! His name is Coco and he is a long legged black standard poodle puppy whom we adopted in March.  He will be one year old in July and is a loving ball of fur. He has already claimed his place on the sofa next to Romily where they watch TV together (until Coco gets bored)! He is a digger who loves to relocate the dirt in the backyard. I would love to train him to dig holes for planting shrubs! He is also an excellent watchdog with a ferocious bark. We are so fortunate to have him!
