The entrance to the Family Life Center at First United Methodist Church was flanked on each side with huge ferns elevated on stands Sunday afternoon, April 24.  The occasion was a bridal shower honoring Sadie Fulton.

The room looked lovely with round tables covered in white floor length cloths covered with toppers of sheer material printed with circles of gold. Centerpieces of fresh cut flowers added an attractive touch. Refreshments were served from a long table edged with gold cloth streamers to the floor, and a white cloth covered top, with a tall centerpiece of white flowers and greenery. Beautifully frosted caramel, red velvet, and cocoanut cakes as well as petit fours, punch, cheese straws, and nuts were served.  Her many gifts were opened and displayed on tables covered with white cloths.

Sadie looked so pretty in a white spring dress and a special gift, a white shoulder bag with the word, BRIDE in rhinestones across the side over her shoulder.  She looked radiantly happy and excited. Sadie and Conner Breland will be married in June.

The Black Diamond Elite baseball team had a great day at the Championship Games in Hattiesburg on April 24. This team is composed of 12 year old boys who have played together for more than one season.

It was a spectacular day for one of the players, Hutt Rushing, whose team not only won the championship, but he also hit his first grand slam! It was a "dinger" which means he hit it over the fence. Hutt hit another homerun during the game. He was also chosen as MVP for that game! He broght home a championship ring, a MVP ring, homerun ring, and grand slam ring to add to his collection.

Hutt has been playing baseball since he was 7 years old and through the years, has improved his skills and proficiency in the game. It is something he enjoys so much. His proud parents are TJ and Jill Dansby Rushing. Congratulations to Hutt!

During the Sunday Worship service at the First United Methodist Church on April 24, six young people were confirmed. All had prepared for this day by learning more about their religion in classes. They all personalized white satin stoles which were placed on their shoulders by the pastor during the ceremony. The congregation welcomed them and pledged to help each one grow in faith and support them in their efforts.

Those who were confirmed are Ely Kilgore, Addy Walker Phillips, Carlisle Ray, Maddox Mars, Sayda Posey, and Reid Thompson, who was also baptized.  Congratulations to these young people.

The Tate Salter home on Poplar was filled with happy guests who had come to shower Lacie Wilkerson Murphy with love and gifts for her and Anthony Murphy's baby girl who will arrive in the not too distant future.

A cake made of diapers and cleverly decorated with baby items was part of the outdoor decorations. It was charming!  An arch of colorful balloons surrounded the entrance to the dining room where a delectable selection of refreshments and pink punch were served, including a yummy cake made by Lacie's aunt, Faye Hoyt. Gifts were in the center of the living room in a generous pile which had been brought by everyone.  Lacie opened her gifts with exclamations of delight and thank you's!

Hostesses for this happy event were Kay Salter, Cyndi Weldy, Gina Daly, Whitney Salter Vance, Faye Hoyt, and Deidre Edwards.

Charlie Booker is three years old and her party was so much fun! Since her mother, Liz Booker, works at Northside Animal Hospital, and the family loves animals, Charlie's party theme was "Adopt a Pet".

A white picket pen filled with stuffed animals had a sign saying, "Adopt a Pet" which greeted the little guests as they arrived to begin the fun. Different activity centers were arranged around the backyard.  The children decorated a house for their pets which were actual little dog houses ready to be painted and decorated with a variety of clever items.  Next they were invited to "Choose a Collar for your pet". A" Dog Hospital complete with clipboards for patient information and prescription pads followed. A "Grooming Station" with grooming supplies and a check list came next.  Selecting their pets' names beginning with the first letter of the owners' name and the month of their birth followed.. This was used to fill out adoption certificates as the ending activity.

A pink and purple Jumpy Castle was set up which the children enjoyed as well as a pink and white tire swing.  A table with the words "Happy Birthday" in gold inflated letters on the wall behind it and an arch of colorful balloons surrounded the words. The refreshments served were so cute! They were puppy cupcake faces with little pink tongues peeking out of their mouths. Some were golden puppies, others were brown and white ones, and others were white.  There was a magnificent multilayer birthday cake frosted in white with several different kinds of dogs going around the bottom layer.  Cookies with different breeds of dogs on them were works of art! The children seemed to have a wonderful time.  Charlie's parents are Jonathan and Liz Booker.
