A beautiful baby girl made her debut into the world on March 11, 2022, where she was welcomed with great joy by her parents, Austin and Destiny Lofton. Vivian Grace Lofton weighed exactly 8 pounds of perfection. She has a perfect nursery which was prepared with much love for her arrival. Congratulations!

A Scholarship Workshop sponsored by The River will be held to provide assistance for seniors about where to find and how to apply for scholarships. There will be two sessions available: March 21, 2022, at 6:00 PM in the Senior Citizens Building at Northside Park; a second session on March 24, 2022, at 6:00 PM will meet at the Westside Community Center.
Qualified personnel with information about availability and how to secure scholarships will be present. Assistance with completing applications and essays will be available for those who request it. Students are encouraged to bring their essays no matter what stage they are in for help completing them. If you have a laptop, please bring it with you.
Participants will sign in on arrival. Pizza will be served while working on applications and qualify for a $50 giveaway!

Miriam Prince, a junior at Leake Academy, received a tremendous honor when she was selected for the 2nd Team All-State List of girls basketball players from all over the entire state of Mississippi. This List is composed of girls from schools with large enrollments. Not many students from small schools ever make the List. .
She is a junior and plays guard on the Lady Rebels team and is listed as a guard on this exalted list of girls. Her father, Phillip Prince, said she has worked hard during the summer where she earned respect and it transferred into the basketball season. He also said that she is unique, Miriam is the daughter of Phillip and Valeria Prince. Congratulations!

Eli and Bethany Morgan Chunn welcomed their second child, a boy, on March 14, 2022. The new arrival, who weighed 8 pounds and 7 ounces, has been named Roper James Chunn. He has a big sister, Darci, who is in love with her baby brother all ready. Congratulations!

Time seemed to fly by for Byron and Chiquita Moore Jones as they celebrated their 30th Wedding Anniversary. They have three adult children, Zachary, Zyron, and Zoe. It doesn't seem possible that they have been married for 30 years. Congratulations and best wishes for many more years together!

Happy Birthday to Delores Edmisson who celebrated her 88th birthday on March 18th in Dickson, Tennessee,. Nanda, as she is affectionately called, has several grandchildren here in Philadelphia as well as her daughters, Mickie Williams and Deena Dansby. Steve Dansby claims her as his favorite mother-in-law who is always a welcome visitor!
Her grandchildren are Jill Dansby Rushing, Kelly Dansby Little, Sid Williams Heath, John Williams, and Lindsey Williams Eakes. She also has several precious great-grandchildren whom she adores. Her Philadelphia family is always excited when she comes to visit!
