What more could a girl want from a gymnastics meet? Twelve-year-old Kiera Boston felt she had it all when she placed number one overall in her division at a Judges' Gymnastics Meet in Hattiesburg recently.

She was awarded lots of medals, crowns, Mardi Gras masks, and even a King Cake for her accomplishment. Kiera works consistently to strengthen her skills with hard work and practice. Her love of the sport continues to grow as she enjoys it more and more. She aspires to be a member of LSU's gymnastics team one day. Since she is in the sixth grade now at Northwest Rankin, the future is not too far away!

She is the daughter of Dr. Chris and Meredith Nowell Boston and her grandparents are Sam and June Nowell. As June said,"Way to go Kiera!"

Two Leake Academy students had the honor of serving as pages for one week in the Mississippi House of Representatives at the Capitol in Jackson recently.

Hayden Jenkins and Pete Peebles had a great experience during the time they spent as pages and learned a lot about how our state government functions. They were selected for this honor by Representative C. Scott Bounds, House of Representatives 44th district and the Speaker of the House, Phillip Gunn.

Hayden is the son of Ryan and Abby Jenkins; Pete's parents are Ben and Ashley Burt Peebles.

The First United Methodist Church held its annual Daddy-Daughter Dinner Dance on the evening of February 26 in the Family Life Center. It was a gala evening with little girls and big girls wearing party dresses and wrist corsages escorted by their daddies who eagerly entered the specially decorated room.

This is a very much anticipated event by the girls who have been waiting to be old enough to attend. There was a lot of chatter, laughter, and happy faces as the guests mingled together. They had a delicious dinner with dancing for those who felt like moving to the music. A special place was set up for pictures as souvenirs of the evening to keep. This is such a great tradition!

Students at Philadelphia Elementary School who reached their Accelerated Reader goals for the 2nd nine weeks earned rewards for their achievement. They attended a movie and their names were entered in a drawing for a very special prize.

Mrs. Stacey Deweese donated two bicycles, one for a girl and one for a boy. The names were drawn from all of the students who met the AR goals. The winners were Chloe McGee and Paultanion Talley who were so thrilled. PES sends a huge thank you to Mrs. Deweese for her generous contribution which encourages reading among students. Positive reinforcement with extrinsic motivation is a valuable stimulus to reading for fun.
