Philadelphia High School Class of 1980 held its 40th Class Reunion at the Venue on June 12. The Reunion was well attended by class members who were happy to get together after so many years. The group spent a fun, relaxing, evening reminiscing and catching up on current events in their lives.

Among those enjoying the evening were Miss PHS 1980, Tammy Tolbert Tawater, Drum Major for the Pride of Philadelphia, Mary Margaret Molpus Logan, Scott Evans, Kim Burnett Hodgins, Valerie Black Seyman, Kella Gray Williams, Dwight McWilliams, LeeAnn Marshall Cox, and Jane Thomas. There were many others attending whose names I did not have, I apologize for any and all omissions.

The gift of time spent with loved ones is the most precious and cherished gift of all. I received this gift for my birthday this June 13 when my daughter, Candler, and her husband, Bert Foster, and grand dog, Abbie, came from Dallas to celebrate with Romily and me.

It was a wonderful week!  Bert grilled steaks for Sunday dinner which were great. We had a caramel cake and banana pudding for dessert. We spent time shopping in Philadelphia and Williamsville which was fun. They gifted us with a large screen television which Bert installed on the new stand from Byars Furniture delivered by Carly Byars Rounsaville. Bert got in a round of golf at Dancing Rabbit which he always looks forward to doing.

He installed our new doorbell and Candler rearranged furniture! It was fun. We had a fantastic birthday dinner at Phillip M's on Wednesday complete with two red roses and a gateau riche dessert with a birthday candle on top. On Thursday we dined at The Porterhouse for another great dinner. Candler and Bert cooked breakfast each morning and then worked from home during the day.

Abbie loves our backyard and asked to go out and check on things frequently. New, interesting smells float through the air. Time passed too quickly as it always does. They left here and went to Natchez for a brief visit. It has not gotten easier to say goodbye over the years. We hope to visit them now that we can fly and their house remodel is almost completed. It was the best birthday I can remember in many years!

The Fair excitement is growing! Fair cabins are being cleaned and fixed up for the 2021 Fair. People are already planning and cooking food to feed their many visitors and family members who will come to enjoy it once again.  Fair goers are anticipating another memorable event which is more exciting since there was "No Fair" last year.
