Congratulations to Clay Sanders who scored his 1st goal in his 1st college soccer game in Birmingham on March 1! He is a freshman majoring in nursing at Mississippi University for Women in Columbus. He plays for the Owls soccer team.

Clay is a 2020 graduate of Neshoba Central High School.  His parents are Zach and Windee Wells Sanders. His Philadelphia family watched the game at home on livestream, but his mother drove to Birmingham with hopes of getting to watch the game some way, somehow. She was able to take pictures, but not able to make it into the stadium. She is a devoted mother and number one fan of the Owls #2 soccer team player!

The Neshoba Central Elementary School PTO practiced a random act of kindness for all of the elementary school students recently. Random Acts of Kindness Week occurred during the ice storm when everyone was stranded at home. The students enjoyed ice cream push pops on the beautiful sunny Friday the following week. This act of kindness shows that kindness can be practiced and shared at any time.

A favorite Philadelphia couple celebrated an iconic Wedding Anniversary on March 4th. Janice and Uhl Payne have been married for 59 years. Time has certainly flown by. They enjoy being a part of their son, Paul, and his family’s lives. Their grandchildren continue to be a blessing to Janice and Uhl. Congratulations and best wishes for many more happy years together!

Neshoba Central Elementary School's library has recognized several students who have reached different goals in the Accelerated Reading program at the school. They earn points and awards for different levels starting with 10 points.

AR is a motivational program which encourages children to read just for fun in the hope of instilling a love of reading. It also reinforces skills for reading comprehension, which is a major objective in teaching reading.  Students read AR books from the library and take tests about each one on a computer. The computer software keeps a record of each individual's test scores and awards points for successful results.  Awards are given for different levels according to the number of books read by each child.

Several students who reached 75 points were: Gannon Perry, Tushika Zimmerman, Dacort Chamberlin, Mary Margaret Garner, Slade Myers, and Devin Lamb. Students earning 100 points were Dalia Chapmen and Bryson Burnham. Kadence Smith had 150 points while Luke Howell earned 150. Elijah Kirkland Harris topped the list with 200 points. Congratulations to each and every AR participant in the elementary school. Keep on reading!

Family Fitness Center was the site for the  wedding of two of its members on the evening of February 13. Mitchell Belk and Cydney Stribling King exchanged vows beneath a white tulle arch held in place with garlands of roses and greenery against a shimmering white backdrop. Friends and family members were guests.

Cydney looked lovely in a beautiful white mermaid style gown designed with a V neckline and off-the-shoulder straps with a court train and low back detailing. She carried a bouquet of dusty rose and ivory roses tied with dusty rose streamers. Kristen Maples of Natchez was the Maid of Honor. She wore a long gown of navy blue and carried a bouquet similar to the bride's.

The bride was given in marriage by a best friend, Chris Wedgeworth. The best man was Freddie Belk, the groom's father. The ceremony was performed by Brother Eric Embry. A reception was held immediately following the ceremony at the Old Mexico restaurant where, according to Cyd, "they had a blast." The wedding cake had an unusual topper, a kissing bride and groom holding a barbell while standing on top of the words , Mr. & Mrs. Belk, in silver letters. The groom's cake was iced in chocolate with the Harley Davidson logo on top and orange flames encircling the bottom layer.

Cyd's three sons, Ian, Knox and Slade attended, along with Mitchell's son, Reice. Her mother, Lynda Stribling was the Mother of the Bride.  Congratulations and best wishes for much happiness
