Philadelphia High School Tornado football player, Jatarian Hudson, signed with East Central Community College on National Signing Day, February 3. He will be a member of the Warrior team. Jatarian has been a valuable member of the Tornado team. His very proud parents are Michael and Jevonius Hudson.

Joining Jatarian from Neshoba Central High School is Keaston Pearson who was an outstanding Rocket football player. He also signed with East Central Community College. His excited parents are Marvin and Pamela Pearson. Congratulations to these two young men.

A senior, Will Adams, from Copiah Academy with Philadelphia ties has signed to play tennis at Millsaps College in Jackson.

Not only did Will receive a tennis scholarship, but he also received the Presidential and Merit Scholars Program Scholarships, an honor given to very few students. Will has also been the recipient of numerous awards and honors during his high school career. He is a member of the Class of 2021

His proud parents are Shannon and Lee Dansby Adams of Hazelhurst. Local grandparents are Laura Bryan and Bill and Joyce Dansby. He also has an Uncle Steve Dansby and Aunt Deena Dansby, and several cousins in Philadelphia who are very proud of him, too. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Lan Pickle and Pam Franklin who were married in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 30, 2020.  The couple had a simple ceremony in the chapel at the Bellagio. Lan is the son of the late Sarah McKay of Philadelphia and the nephew of the late Rachel Evens. His son, Alan Thomas Pickle, is a student at the University of Mississippi. Best wishes for much happiness.

One of Philadelphia's most charming ladies celebrated her 85th birthday on January 29.  Dawn Mars was honored by her close family members on the occasion. She has been a very vital part of Philadelphia for many years and raised a family who also carries on her legacy. Happy Birthday!

2020 was another great year of Junior High Rodeo for Annie Kate White and her horse, Swirl. Riding Swirl, Annie Kate entered the Mississippi Junior Division Reined Cow Horse and Cutting competitions..

Annie Kate won the Reserved Champion Junior Reined Cow Horse Award and she and Swirl were in the sop 5 Junior Cutting Horse competition.  

Winning these awards is no easy task. It takes many hours of work and practice on horseback to perfect the essential skills to win. Annie Kate's proud parents are William and Leigh Ann Hatcher White.  Congratulations to Annie Kate and Swirl!
