Neshoba Central Middle School 7th grade students participated in a NCMS Career Exploration event recently.  Guest speakers from the medical and legal fields gave an overview of their respective areas.  Students were introduced to the actual work involved in these careers.

The Honorable Judge Joseph Kilgore wore his robes of office and spoke to the students about what a judge's duties involve as well as answered questions from the students. Mr. Wade White, who is a lawyer, talked about what might be required of a lawyer and answered questions. The students enjoyed listening to real people talking about their careers.  The Career Exploration event is the beginning of educating young people about what is available as a possible career

I baked sugar cookies today and as I rolled out the dough, I thought of my mother who did the same thing so very long ago.  I used her rolling pin which she used for as long as I can remember.  It is a heavy wooden rolling pin which is well seasoned from years of use. I cut Christmas trees and bells with the same aluminum cutters with red handles that we used as children. I used this rolling pin and the cookie cutters to make Christmas cookies for many years with my daughter, Candler. It was something we enjoyed doing together each year.

There are many cherished memories that are evoked by that rolling pin. I am so thankful that I had such wonderful parents and a big sister who was my star.  My brother is still taking care of me, long-distance, and for this I am so grateful. He is so precious to me.

Merry Christmas to all of you and your precious families.  I hope you have a joyous holiday season in spite of everything that has caused us all distress and anxiety. God bless you.
