Congratulations to Justin Fox who has completed the Lineman Program at East Central Community College. Justin is a 2020 graduate of Neshoba Central High School

He has chosen one of the most essential careers to keep our communities functioning in all areas. A lineman's job can be very dangerous at times and extremely difficult. The linemen are out in all types of weather conditions working to restore power to everyone affected by tornadoes, ice storms, flooding, and many other disasters. They are the ones who risk their lives to help when needed. Linemen are often our unsung heroes who do not receive recognition for their valuable service.

His very proud parents are Chuck and Crystal Fox. Best wishes for a bright future.

Crisp fresh air, mountains covered with trees in late fall foliage, beautiful sky, and fires in a fire pit were some of the delights that the Reed family enjoyed recently on their family vacation in Cove Mountain Wears Valley, Tennessee.

It was one of the best family vacations in recent years.  Woody and Lisa Reed took their children, Shane Reed, Amy Reed Eubanks, and Jason Reed along with their daughter-in-law, Kaitlyn Reed, grandchildren, Reed Eubanks, Brighton and Miriam Reed, and Aspen Reed on a trip to the mountains.

They had a fantastic time exploring the area and touring the surrounding towns. The nights were cool enough to have a fire indoors in a fireplace, and outdoors in a fire pit. It was a pleasant respite from the pandemic stress and offered much-needed relaxation for everyone.

On the evening of Dec. 10, the Philadelphia High School Band presented its Christmas concert "Sounds of the Season." The performance was held in the Philadelphia High School Auditorium.  The audience was limited to parents who wore masks and social distancing was observed in the seating.

The band was spaced out on the stage which was festively decorated for Christmas. The band is under the direction of Wayne M. Benn. Charmaine Manzano was the piano accompanist and David Fowler played the guitar. It was an excellent performance! A member of the audience recorded some of the selections and posted them on Facebook. It was a pleasure to listen to this group of young people!

Birthday celebrations have become so creative due to the pandemic. There have been birthday parades and drive-by parties which were fun for the honorees. Another idea was Kelly Dansby's Progressive Birthday Dinner on December 7. Three families were involved, Steve and Deena Dansby, Kelly and Barrett Little, and Jill and TJ Rushing. Their children were included, Hutt and Kaiser Rushing, and Wyatt and Whit Little.

The dinner began with appetizers served at the Little's home where Kelly had prepared a variety of tasty nibbles.  One especially clever presentation was a cheese and fruit tray which was arranged in the shape of a large Christmas tree on a platter. The edges were outlined in fresh green parsley with alternating rows of grapes and cheese cubes forming the tree. Everything looked so festive with the seasonal decorations throughout the house. There was a special table set with Christmas placemats and a centerpiece for the four children.

They traveled to the Dansby's home for the main course.  Steve had cooked Kelly's favorite dish for her.  She was so pleased. Their home looked lovely with its Christmas decorations.

The last course was dessert at the Rushing's home where everyone enjoyed yummy desserts. Again, the seasonal decorations added so much to the festive party. The children had such a good time and were pleased to be included in this special event with the grownups.

Kelly thoroughly enjoyed this birthday celebration. Not only did she feel special, but she was so thankful that her daddy was alive and well after being so very ill. She would like to have him cook her favorite dish as an annual tradition. I am so glad that everyone in this beautiful family is together again.
