The celebration of Dot Lewis’s 90th birthday was a great one which lasted all weekend! It began with a celebratory lunch on Saturday with family at the SSSS Steakhouse which had a huge banner with her picture in the front window wishing her a Happy Birthday and a lovely birthday cake iced in white frosting with pale pink roses on the top gracing the lunch table.
That night they went to the Ellis Theater to see “Blue Hawaii” starring Elvis Presley. The next day, Sunday, the sanctuary flowers in her church were in honor of her 90th birthday. It was an amazing weekend for an amazing woman!

Several women who are members of Mars Hill Pentecostal Church attended a Women’s Conference at Potts Camp recently. The event was for women with well known- women guest speakers and was appropriately called HER Conference. Some of those attending were Misty Chesser, the pastor’s wife, along with Cindy Flake and her mother, Zane Jones.
A formal candlelight dinner was served on the first evening while a wonderful buffet breakfast was enjoyed before the day’s programs the next morning. The speakers were inspiring to their audience and focused on God’s love and mercy and how forgiveness sets one free of the heavy burden their trauma or devastation has placed upon their lives. The conference concluded on Saturday morning with new perspectives and feeling refreshed by hope.
