One of Philadelphia’s former residents, Dr. Brooke Winstead, was featured in The Intern Spotlight from UMMC, where she is an internal medicine intern, and a pharmacist.
When asked why she chose UMMC for residency, she said there is no place like home, and UMMC was her home. Brooke also wanted to train in a place with a complex, diverse patient population in need, especially with a large number of rural patients. Not only is the patient population ideal, but the education is phenomenal. She believes that the internal medicine faculty and staff go above and beyond to ensure that they are learning medical information, but also compassion for patients.
When she has free time, Brooke can be found in Philadelphia, where she enjoys visiting with family and friends. She loves to spend time with her husband, Tanner Winstead, and their dog.
Tanner also shares many of her interests. They went to Yellowstone National Park with friends in the summer and had a wonderful time.
