What a great way to start their day! Leake Academy K-4 and K-5 students were greeted by the cheerleaders and football players as they arrived at school last Thursday. These little Rebels were so thrilled to receive such an exciting welcome. Great idea for motivating students' attendance!

Leadership Neshoba participants shared an amazing experience last week. They visited Kentawka Creek Molasses Mill, where Mack Alford showed them how to make molasses from start to finish.

It is a fascinating process to watch. He grows the cane throughout the summer and cuts it this time of year, presses it using a tractor, and collects the juice in a large antique cauldron over a red hot wood fire, which is boiled for hours.  The molasses is poured into sterilized bottles labeled with Kentawka Creek Molasses Mill and the address.

Under Mr. Alford’s direction, students tried their hand at making molasses and tasting the final product! It was a fun experience. As Mack said, “It’s more than just a syrup mill.” It is a community event with dinner on the grounds during the season and a game of Corn Hole or two!

Steve and Linda Murray recently returned from another fantastic trip! This time, they visited Morocco, where they toured the part of the Sahara Desert that borders Morocco. It was an opportunity to see another one of God’s beautiful creations.

They took a guided tour on camels into the desert, where they enjoyed the amazing experience of having tea and refreshments served in a tent while seated on beautiful rugs and camped in Camels were the mode of travel in this unique area of the world. Linda cheerfully waved from the back of a camel as she followed the line to their destination. It was breathtaking to watch the sunset on the beautiful sand dunes of the Sahara. Morocco and its ancient history were intriguing. She walked in ancient medinas, met interesting people, and climbed rocky trails of immense height. What a marvelous experience!
