The altar at Holy Cross Catholic Church looked lovely last Sunday with white and red altar cloths and flanked on either side by candelabras and a beautiful floral arrangement on one side. The usual gold celebratory pieces lent a glow to the entire setting.
The congregation celebrated Family Day with Father Jofin offering mass for all of the families. Mass was followed by a potluck luncheon in the parish hall, which offered a variety of tempting food.

A wedding shower honoring Brooklyn Bell was held in the fellowship hall of Mt. Olive Baptist Church on Sept. 7 where Brooklyn and Walker Beckham will exchange wedding vows
The hall was beautifully decorated with tables covered in white cloths topped with runners with candles and flowers down the center. There were tables covered with tray after tray of delectable foods that looked like pages from Southern Living magazine. Another table was laden with festively wrapped gifts waiting for Brooklyn and Walker to open for everyone to admire.
Hostesses for the shower were Misty Holland, Paula Boatner, Brittany Dowdy, Breann Moore, Jessica Kilpatrick Walker, Candy Moore, Lynette Kilpatrick, Sylvia Beckham, Linda Walker, Deborah Holland, and Sharon Holland.

Father Jofin George, pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church, attended a conference in India last week which began with a four-day retreat. Each day was packed with activities for an enriching, rejuvenating, and enriching, experience.
Father Jofin arrived at 3 a.m. after traveling 8,598 miles, which took over 24 hours. He met two other priests in the Dallas-Fort Worth airport going to the same place, so they traveled together. Father Tristan Stovall is subbing for Father Jofin for two Sunday masses. We appreciate his doing this.

Cooperstown, New York, is the home of the Baseball Hall of Fame, which is a fascinating place for baseball fans from all over the globe. Plaques of famous baseball players from many years back and other fascinating displays exist.
Steve Wilkerson met a man who bought his first sports coat from him back 1984!
After Cooperstown, he and Jenny Lynn headed to Niagra Falls. The falls district was beautiful with gorgeous rainbows rising above and out of the falls. They rode on the famous “Maid of the Mist” boat. Of course, they got soaked! Jenny Lynn rode on the boat behind the falls!
It was another fantastic trip, as Jenny Lynn said!
