Jones scores big as Warriors pick up three victories

The Choctaw Central boys basketball team racked up three wins in games played last week and stand at 5-3.

The Warriors defeated Brandon 66-64 last Tuesday. They came back Thursday to stop Hazlehurst 61-39, and finished Saturday with a 73-63 victory over Pearl.

The Choctaw Central Lady Warriors went 2-1. They defeated Brandon 63-59 and then stopped Hazlehurst 73-38. The Lady Warriors closed out with a 78-76 loss to Pearl. They now stand at 7-0.

The Choctaw Central boys were to compete in a tournament at St. Martin on the Coast this week. The Lady Warriors are off this week. Both teams will be at Neshoba Central next Tuesday.



Warriors 66

This game was close as the Warriors pulled the victory out in the final quarter.

Ocavious Jones led with 23 points. Kashden Bell scored 15 points while William McKinney put in 10 points and Gerald Isom added nine.





Warriors 61

Hazlehurst 39

The Warriors took control of the game in the second quarter and held on to take the victory.

Jones led with 19 points. Avontae Jones and Gerald Isom both added 11 points while William McKinney scored nine.



Warriors 73


Pearl 63

The Warriors took the lead in the second quarter and held on for the victory.

Jones led with 26 points while Chris Lewis put in 14 points and Bell scored 10 points.



Lady Warriors 63

Brandon 59

Choctaw Central held off the Lady Bulldogs in the final quarter to take the victory.

Meloney Thames led Choctaw Central with 16 points while Kyla Farmer added 10.

Lady Warriors 73

Hazlehurst 38

The Lady Warriors led 51-17 at the half and went on to take the win.

Thames and Laliana Crosby both scored 13 points while Farmer added 10 points.



Pearl 78

Choctaw Central 76

The Lady Warriors fell short in their fourth quarter rally against Pearl.

Shantashia John led with 16 points while Thames and John both put in 14 points.
