Graveside services for Bro. John Burkes was held Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. from McLain Chapel Cemetery with Bro. Walt Tessier officiating. McClain-Hays Funeral Home was in charge of arrangement.

Bro. John Burkes was born on July 15, 1928 and died March 20, 2022, on Sunday Eve of Saint Joseph feast Day . John was the third child of Roscoe and Mary Burkes deceased. He was a resident of Kemper Care Center. John and his wife Joyce were pastors and teachers. He served in the COH 508Th PAR INF REGT 82 Div as a paratrooper of WWII. Bro. John is survived by his son, Rev. JC Burkes; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Ethel; brother, Ollie L.; brother-in-law, Jean; sister-in-law, Linda Carol; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Bro. Burkes was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce and his young son Buddy.
