Jewell was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church of Meridian and was a dedicated member of the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class. She was also very active in the ESP group at Faith. Jewell enjoyed working with the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Distribution Center in Atlanta each year as long as her health permitted. Coming from humble beginnings she and her husband made their home in Philadelphia, before moving to Meridian in 1958. After moving, she enjoyed caring for her family and along with her husband, James, they taught Sunday School at State Blvd Baptist Church. After retirement they enjoyed working on their farm in Leake County and traveling to see family and friends. She was a talented cook and was renowned for her Caramel and Strawberry Cakes. She also loved tending to her flower gardens and caring for her yard. She will be remembered for her strength and dedication to her Lord, Church, Family, and friends.

Mrs. Jewell is survived by her son Jamie Sistrunk (Nelda); her grandchildren, Jessica Thomas (Tyler), Natalie Perry (Todd), Jessica Calvert (Hon. Billy Adam), Matthew Sistrunk (Erika), and Caleb Courvelle (Rachel). Fourteen Great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Wall, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
