Mrs. Jessie Marie Williamson Davis died Sunday, August 9, 2020 at Providence Assisted Living. 

Mrs. Davis is preceded in death by husband of 59 years, William Roscoe Davis, Jr. and by their daughter, Nancy Rea Davis Granholm; parents, Jesse Mims Williamson and Lillie Mae Rea Williamson of Philadelphia; and her sister, Molly K. Cox.

She is survived by her grandson, Eric Davis Granholm and his wife Tonja with step-sons, Josh and Cole Hopkins of Nova Scotia, Canada.  Mrs. Davis is also survived by her son-in-law, Ralph Granholm and his wife, Cecelia of Grenada; brother-in-law, Wallace B. Cox of Philadelphia, MS; nephew, Bill Cox of Powder Springs, GA; niece, Jayne Davis Coleman of Roswell, GA; and special friend, Rhonda Cochran of Marietta, GA.  She was blessed by having many loving cousins and friends.

Mrs. Davis was born in Neshoba County, MS and lived her early years in Philadelphia, MS.  She received her education at the Philadelphia Public Schools, East Central Mississippi Community College, Mississippi State College for Women, Louisiana State University and the University of Mississippi.

For 32 years Mrs. Davis was a Home Economics teacher at John Rundle and Grenada High Schools in Grenada, Mississippi. 

She was a life member of Phi Upsilon Omicron.  For 52 years she was an active member of The Twentieth Century Club of Grenada having served as President and Chairman of the Historical Committee.  Mrs. Davis was an active member of First Baptist Church - Philadelphia beginning at age nine.  She participated in the many activities that the church made available.  She felt that these activities gave her a firm foundation for living.

Beginning in 1947 Mrs. Davis became an active member of First Baptist Church – Grenada.  Her ministry included years of participation in the Sanctuary Choir, pianist for various Sunday school assemblies and teaching young married ladies in Sunday school.  She also taught Girls Auxiliary and was a member of the Women’s Missionary Union.  She served on various church committees including the Historical Committee.

If desired, memorials may be sent to the Sanctuary Fund of First Baptist Church, 450 Faith Drive, Grenada, MS 38901 or to the Missions Fund at First Baptist Church – Philadelphia.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Woodlawn Memorial Park.  Dr. John Boler of First Baptist Church – Grenada will officiate.
